About Dina
Dina Kupfer is a versatile, Emmy award-winning journalist who anchors the weekday morning newscasts at KXTV ABC10 in Sacramento, Calif.
Dina leads the Sacramento market of news journalists with the most growth in fans on Facebook (69K and counting), and she loves to connect with her audience through Twitter and Instagram, as well.
"The television news industry is changing every day, and I am committed to being ahead of those changes in this digital era. I am very active on social media, as I find it is a great tool to engage with viewers, start smart conversations which lead to unique story ideas and to encourage my fans to connect with me on a personal level."
Dina covers the whole gamut of news from breakers, to features, to weather, sports and traffic. In the last year, Dina interviewed celebrities on the Red Carpet at ABC's Dancing with the Stars, she field anchored from the Umquaw Community College shooting in Roseburg, Ore., and she reported from the fire lines during some of Northern California's most devastating fires. She has reported from Air Force One, eaten dog food on the air and reported live on skis, a bicycle and while rappelling from the side of a building. Dina is a self-proclaimed 'Jill-of-all-trades.'
A University of Oregon grad (Go Ducks!), Dina grew up in Reno, Nev. and that is where she got her start as a Sports Anchor at KRNV. She covered Quarterback Colin Kaepernick's college days at Nevada and hosted a weekly high school sports show. On September 16th, 2011, the infamous Reno Air Races crash stunned the nation. Dina was sent to the hospital to report on the triage center -- patients arrived one by one, bloodied and in shock -- a moment that left a lasting impression on Dina, inspiring her to move from the sports office to the newsroom to begin her reporting career. From there, Dina continued building her brand of versatility.
"When I am telling a story, whether it be on the desk or in the field, I feel the heartache of the mom who just lost her daughter to a DUI suspect, and I relish in the successes of a nonprofit that just received enough funds to keep the lights on. It's about connecting with the story and connecting with the audience."
When she's not working, Dina's bubbly, adventurous spirit keeps her moving. She loves to ski, hike, mountain bike, run, golf, kayak, camp and explore nature. She also loves to take on DIY projects, or as she calls them: 'DinaIY projects!' She is married and has an adorable French Bulldog named Brewski. She is also a proud auntie of nine nieces and nephews.
